There are several instances in the members' journey when an automated email will be triggered.
This can be nerve-wracking for membership administrators during the build process when you are not ready to launch your new website to your members yet. To give you some confidence during your import and configuration process, below is a list of instances that will trigger an automated email from the system.
- Manually adding members using the +Add member button - this will trigger the welcome email (and possibly the manual approval email should you have automatic approval disabled on your membership level settings). Add a New Member
- Renewing a member using the renew member option in the membership administrator area - this will trigger the renewal success email. Renewing Members Manually as an Administrator
- Transferring a member between membership levels - this will trigger the welcome email from the new membership level. Transferring Members Between Levels
- Changing a members membership product by using the "Change product" option in the membership administration area - this will trigger the renewal success email. Transfer or Changing Members Between Membership Products
- Adding a member to a membership level using the "Add to level" option in the membership administration area - this will trigger a welcome email for the new membership level. Add Member to Level
- Manually adding a secondary member will trigger the secondary member welcome email. Add Secondary Group Members

To avoid any of the above emails being sent:
- Import your members instead of manually adding them. Importing your Members
- Ensure there are no renewal reminder days set in your membership's general settings. Expiry/Renewal Reminders
- Carry out any updates in your membership data via import instead of manually (however, you can manually add content or edit a member's form data without triggering emails). Update Existing Accounts or Members/Matching Fields
