FAQ: Online Payment Showing as Pending
This FAQ explains why your online payment may appear as pending in your bank account and outlines possible reasons why the transaction was not successful.
There are multiple transactions that can be made in the system using online payments (if enabled), such as:
-
Membership signup and renewal
-
Event registration
-
Course enrolment
-
Purchasing items in the Online Store
However, there are scenarios that may prevent a transaction from completing successfully, causing the payment to show as “pending” in the customer’s bank account. The reason can vary depending on the type of transaction or the module where it occurred.
Possible reasons:
-
Membership, Events, and Online Courses: A pending payment usually means something prevented the member from completing the payment. This is typically caused by internet or network issues.

-
Online Store: A pending payment often means the member did not complete the final step of checkout, which includes confirming acceptance of the terms and conditions.

In both cases, the transaction is considered failed, and no payment will appear in your payment report. No payment is taken by the system. The pending status is just a temporary hold placed by the bank to verify that funds are available. This hold is typically released back to the member/purchaser within 7 days, depending on the bank.
