The implications of changing membership levels from rolling to fixed.
Question
Can I change a membership level from rolling to fixed, and are there implications in doing so?
Answer
It is possible to change a membership level from a rolling date to a fixed date. However, there are some implications in doing so.
WHAT ISSUES COULD THIS CAUSE?
Members who have expiry dates within close range of the fixed date may have renewed, and then be told only a short time later that they need to renew again.
WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THIS WORK?
There are two ways in which this can be made to work:
- The number of leeway days (i.e. how many days your members can renew prior to their expiry) is also the amount of days the member will get free membership, when changing to a fixed date. (i.e. - if leeway days are set to 120 days prior to expiry, then if the member is renewing within that 120 days from the fixed date (e.g. 45 days prior to fixed date) then they will get the 12 month membership plus the 45 days). Once all your members have renewed with the fixed date, you can then drop your leeway days to a standard amount (normally 30-60 days) for the following year.
- The other option would be to Edit your membership level to "Renew until 30th June 2019" (Example date) and edit the membership price each month to a pro-rata amount. Once all members are renewed to the fixed date, you can then edit the price back to the annual price, and your membership product name to its original, and your members can renew for the normal term of the membership.
